World Vegan Day

Today is World Vegan Day. A day to celebrate animals, the environment and our health.

What people choose to do makes a difference and you have the power to decide what kind of difference you want to make. I want to take this time to congratulate everyone who has chosen to follow a vegan lifestyle, and to all those attempting to start following a vegan lifestyle!

Being vegan is not a diet. It goes well beyond dietary restrictions. Vegans are saving the environment, and saving water. They don’t support companies that abuse animals by testing products on them and they choose health over convenience.

I decided to become vegan almost 10 years ago. I made this decision spontaneously and it changed my life drastically. It is one of my proudest achievements that I had the dedication, compassion and courage to take responsibility for my choices.

Did you know by following a plant based diet, in ONE DAY, you can save: Over 1000 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 10 lbs of carbon dioxide, 30 feet of forested land AND ONE ANIMALS LIFE?!

In addition, you are reducing your risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Please take a moment today to remember that every time you are spending money, you are casting a vote for the kind of world you want to live in. I challenge everyone to include more plant based products into their diet on a regular basis, and slowly start eliminating animal products. Read labels and choose products listed as “Cruelty Free”. This includes make up, hair products, cleaning products and medicine. Chose Cruelty Free clothing products. We don’t need to be wearing animal ON US. This is simply not necessary. You can buy beautiful, warm winter jackets that aren’t down filled and hand bags that aren’t made of leather.

Today please take a moment to celebrate vegans. Eat a few extra vegetables tonight with your dinner. Or try some plant-based proteins.

We have the power to change the world and world peace has the potential to start on our plates.
